For some years Derman has been building up its infrastructure, developing its policies and procedures including employment conditions. To be sure Derman is providing a quality service along the lines of the needs of the people in our communities, we have had assessments carried out on all our services through evaluations we have commissioned. Recently we have made amendments to our existing business plan in order to respond to the changes in the ways in which health and social care services are being commissioned.

Derman is accepted as a professional, effective, efficient and caring organisation that is here for all people from our communities. It has developed a solid reputation as the only health and social care related service provider to Kurdish and Turkish people in the UK. It is also seen as a robust organisation that is here to stay through the next decade and beyond.

Our Services are accessible to all

Derman offers its services freely, at no cost, to all Kurdish, Turkish, Turkish Cypriot and Eastern European Turkish people, mainly, in Hackney irrespective of their political, ethnic and religious backgrounds. Derman’s services are all completely non-denominational and politically unaligned.

We are committed to Quality

Derman’s staff members are committed and highly educated people who come from the communities it seeks to serve. All our staff members are police checked. We have been highly successful in developing and running services to meet the needs of our communities. We advise professionals to ensure services are developed to meet the needs of our communities, and that already existing services are appropriate to their needs, culture and sensitivities.

DERMAN Counselling Service has been successfully achieved BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) accreditation status.

Derman has achieved the PQASSO quality mark recently.
PQASSO (Practical Quality Assurance System) is the leading quality standard developed for the third sector.

We also achieved Healthy Hackney Standard Award by Shoreditch Spa/Trust on behalf on the London Borough of Hackney by having the right policy frame work on place to promote health and wellbeing.

Achieving BACP Counselling Service accreditation status, PQASSO quality mark and the Health Hackney Standard Award provide a reflection of the high quality or services offered by Derman and the ways in which the organization is managed.

Confidentiality and Data Protection

All those employed at Derman perform their duties within a framework of confidentiality. Personal information given to GPs, other professionals and staff by users will not be passed on to anyone outside of the service except where there is a legal requirement to do so i.e. where there are child protection issues or where there is threat of self-harm or harm to another individual.

We have a complaints procedure which is widely publicised.

Our staffs are not allowed to accept gifts from our service users.
