We understand that many of our service users are worried and concerned about Coronavirus.
Please be assured that our services are still up and running. In order to support the health and wellbeing of all our staff and clients; Derman, since Monday the 23rd March, has been been providing its services in different ways. These services are taking place digitally and over the phone.
The health of everyone in our communities is of the highest importance to us, and we urge everyone who is experiencing symptoms to follow the NHS guidance.
Those who use DERMAN services
Our service users are at the heart of everything we do at Derman, and we are working hard to ensure that we have measures in place to continue offering you help and support.
Mental Health Services: We are offering telephone counselling/ individual support intervention or zoom (webcam) sessions where is available. If you have any questions, please contact us from 07956495427 Monday to Friday between 9.00 – 13.00 pm.
Health Advocacy Service: We are continuing our health advocacy service at 13 different GP surgeries in Hackney as long as GP surgeries are open and running. Our health advocates are carrying out the consultations with the doctor through phone mostly and follow GP surgeries instructions.
Advice Service: We are mainly offering telephone advice. If you need any help please contact us from 07921327476 Mondays between 13:30 – 16:30,
Wednesdays between 9.30 – 13.00 and Fridays between 9:30 – 13:00 pm.

Our Services are accessible to all
Derman offers its services freely, at no cost, to all Kurdish, Turkish, Turkish Cypriot and Eastern European Turkish people, mainly, in Hackney irrespective of their political, ethnic and religious backgrounds. Derman’s services are all completely non-denominational and politically unaligned.

Derman’s staff members are committed and highly educated people who come from the communities it seeks to serve. All our staff members are police checked. We have been highly successful in developing and running services to meet the needs of our communities. We advise professionals to ensure services are developed to meet the needs of our communities, and that already existing services are appropriate to their needs, culture and sensitivities.
Derman has the Trusted Charity quality mark , (previously called PQASSO-Practical Quality Assurance System, since 2011. Trusted Charity quality mark is part of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) and is the only UK quality standard designed to help third sector organisations operate more effectively and efficiently. DERMAN was assessed against the 11 standards of effective practice in Trusted Charity, including in governance, leadership and management, managing staff and volunteers and managing money, and proved to meet all standards.
Derman has also successfully become an IAPT compliant organisation since 2015. Derman’s Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) is a partnership delivery model between Homerton IAPT, Tavistock, East London Mental HealthTrust, Mind and Bikur Cholim, which is part of the national IAPT scheme. We are now working very closely with the NHS to deliver culturally specific psychological therapies to Turkish/Kurdish speaking communities.
Achieving BACP Counselling Service accreditation status, Trusted Charity quality mark and becoming IAPT complaint organisation provide a reflection of the high quality or services offered by Derman and the ways in which the organization is managed.
