Derman has been part of City and Hackney Wellbeing Network, commissioned by Hackney Council, and led by City and Hackney Mind since February 2015. The Network offers one to one counselling and a range of group therapies to clients which aimed to improve emotional wellbeing, re-validate their skills to recover, live independently, and to manage their mental and physical well-being.
What we offer?
We offer individual short-term (6 to 12 sessions) and culturally sensitive counselling in Turkish and also run Self-help Group for Depression and Relapse Prevention Group. We also run temporary groups for specific purposes time to time (e.g. Diabetes Group etc.). Our Counselling services operate under a ‘no drugs and alcohol policy’ and have a framework for missed and cancelled sessions.
Counselling is a space to talk and think about your problems with someone skilled and trained to help you deal with your negative feelings. It is a place to explore thoughts and feelings about yourself and your relationships with others. Counselling can help you understand yourself better and allow you to see what may have been stopping you from fulfilling your potential in life.
Group Counselling Our counselling offered in a group environment can have many benefits. it offers a support network and provides the opportunity to meet others experiencing similar concerns. Together with the therapist and the other group members you’ll be encouraged to talk about your experience with other people who have had similar experiences. This can help you with feeling less alone and isolated, and also assist with gradually gaining confidence and building your self-esteem.
Who can use this Counselling Service? This is a free of charge adult (16 onwards) counselling service for Turkish speaking clients or clients of Turkish, Kurdish and Cypriot origin who reside and/or are registered with a GP in Hackney.
