Our History

Who We Are?

Derman, a registered charity and company limited by guarantee, was set up in Hackney in 1991 by members of the Turkish, Turkish Cypriot and Kurdish communities in partnership with local GPs and the health authority.

Derman’s staff members are committed and highly qualified people who come from the communities it seeks to serve.

Derman is accepted as a professional, effective, efficient and caring organisation that is here for all people from our communities. It has developed a solid reputation as the only health and social care-related service provider to Turkish speaking people in the UK. It is also seen as a robust organisation that is here to stay.
